How to burp a breastfed baby?

My baby wakes up every 2 hours at night to nurse. Then we fall back asleep while he is nursing. I think its giving him gas because I dont get to burp him. When I try to stay awake to burp him, he falls asleep and will not let the burp out. If I try to wake him up, he starts crying and then I burp him and then he wants to nurse back to sleep. So then I would have to burp him again after that. Whats the best way to handle the burping?

Breastfed babies usually don’t need burping like bottle fed babies because they aren’t talking in so much air. You can simply sit him up and gently pat his back, this should get the burp up and not even wake him. Maybe he doesn’t need to burp, this is normal. Good for you for breastfeeding!!!!!!!
