At what age should your children be sleeping in a toddler bed?
My daughter just turned two this month and I still have her in her crib. I was wondering at what age is good to put them in a toddler bed? She is a very restless sleeper and moves all over the place. So I am afraid if i put her in the toddler bed she will fall off or something. There are mornings that she is sleeping at the foot of her bed with her feet on the railing of the crib or sleeping sideways.
When our daughter turned 2, we put her on a Queen mattress on the floor as she moves all over the place as well. I always find her in the funniest positions in the morning. The Queen mattress gives her lots of room and since it’s on the floor, there are no safety issues. If she gets up at night, which is only occasionally when she has a tough time getting back to sleep, I just lay with her on her bed until she falls asleep again and go back to our bed. I know people don’t agree with that, but it’s not often she wakes up, and it works for us, so I don’t have any issues with doing that. She never gets out of the bed, so I never had to worry about that issue. Once she’s asleep, she’s like a rock and tornado’s could blow through her room and she remains asleep. LOL
To start her in her new bed, we would drive her around until she fell asleep then would put her in her bed, and then after that short couple day phase, I would lay with her until she fell asleep and she then became used to it!
We didn’t buy her a mattress actually, but “borrowed” it from our spare bed since we don’t have many out of town guests. Works great for us and she picked out her bedding and we put the bed in the corner of the room so she has the wall as her headboard and the side wall as “fall out” protection. She LOVES her bed!! =) I think toddler beds are too small for the wiggly sleepers!! =) Happy New Year!
